About Us

28th YEAR
We have always been a Columbus Public Access TV show, today on Education Access Channel (TW 25 WOW 20 Insight 9, AT&T 99).  In the first 13 years a weekly 1-hour TV presentation was on the Columbus Public Access Channel 21. Today in our 28 th year on the air in Columbus we have 2 hours wrestling shows on each night of the week.  We can also be seen via the YouTube channel  MATSIDE TV.
Some shows will have only 3 day delay in broadcast. Others might not get on for many weeks. The schedule posted on this web site provides the Air Date and the Event Date. The schedule will be updated with any changes.
We no longer are allowed to cover any home Ohio State Wrestling meets at St. Johns Arena as we did for 19 years because Ohio State sold all rights to Big Ten Network. (However, there is an extensive library of past Ohio State wrestling available to you via our archive program.)  There are a few archive shows available of the Big Ten Championships and the National Duals Matside has covered over the years.
We cover the Ohio State High School Championships at Schottenstein Center until 2014 when OHSAA sold rights to Time Warner and did not put an exclusion for public access stations who sense beginning has brought local wrestling community their school participants in the programming.   For many years we annually presented the National High School Senior Championships but they two sold the TV rights. Since we lost all of Ohio State programming it is  now exclusive high school coverage. From year to year Matside covers some of the famous tournaments in Ohio;  Medina, Brecksville, Top Gun, and Hephner along with the OHSA  new team duals.
Since 1987 we have brought the wrestling community a unique experience with such Olympic style wrestling events as the World Cup, Senior Nationals, USA Team Trials, and other special events. In the early years there was no problem producing the shows for our Columbus area viewers. In recent years it has become more and more difficult to get permission from USA Wrestling to film the events because USA Wrestling does not provide in their TV contract the ability for public access TV like Matside to participate along side those who purchase the commercial TV rights.
The productions are two-camera -two announcers shoots for most events. The technical quality is shot in HD and broadcast on standard.
