22 YEARs
For 15 years a weekly 1-hour TV presentation was on the Columbus Public Access. Today in our 22 nd year on the air in Columbus we have 2 hours continous wrestling. The one-hour caused the viewer to take two separate weeks to view a complete event, which also caused long delay broadcasts. Now you can watch the entire event to completion.
SCHEDULE
Some shows will have only 3 day delay in broadcast. Others might not get on for many weeks. The schedule posted on this web site provides the Air Date and the Event Date. The schedule will be updated with any changes.
Classic films will be aired during the off seasons. As time goes on a show becomes a classic from events that followed the original airing. This part of the schedule also provides history background for current wrestlers and fans. Matside has been matside of great events and great wrestlers. You may be matside of history via these scheduled Classic Events. Of course, you can have permanent matside with purchase of the classic archive.
COLLEGE WRESTLING
We covered all home Ohio State Wrestling meets at St. Johns Arena PRIOR to Big Ten Network. On occation we produce other college events. In the past we presented the Big Ten Championships and the National Duals.
HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING
We cover the Ohio State High School Championships at Schottenstein Center. We anually present the National High School Senior Championships. There are other high school events covered like the Medina Invitational. On occation we have a few Columbus area dual matches.
OLYMPIC STYLE WRESTLING
Since 1987 we have attempted to bring the wrestling community a uniqe experience with such Olympic style wrestling events as the World Cup, Senior Nationals, USA Team Trials, and special events. In the early years there was no problem producing the shows for our Columbus area viewers. In recent years it has become more and more difficult to get permission from USA Wrestling to film the events because USA Wrestling does not provide in their TV contract the ability for public access TV like Matside to participate along side those who purchase the TV rights.
2-CAMERA 2-ANNOUNCER
The productions are usually two-camera -two announcers shoot. The technical quality is not ESPN but reasonable for the avid wrestling fan. The guest announcers with Bob vary widely and often one of the highlights of the show.
BOB DIELI the Announcer
The lead announcer and producer of the show is Bob Dieli who is known throughout the world's wrestling community and is especially followed by the local high school and OSU teams. Bob was inducted into the 1987 Ohio Wrestling Hall of Fame for his 42 years involvement in wrestling. Bob has trained over 30 State High School Champions, over 10 collegiate All-Americans and eight Senior National AAU champions. He was member of 1980 USA staff who won the World team title. He has attended 4 Olympics, 6 World Games and 13 World Cup Games. He was the founder of the Ohio Wrestling Club, which participated in national championships from 72-77, finishing 3rd or above in all but one of those years. He has several books published. And of course, Bob has produced hundreds of TV wrestling shows over past 15 years.
